4 Simple Hacks to Boost Your LinkedIn Engagement

Master Strong Hooks, Easy Readability, Effective Postscripts, and Strategic Comments

Happy Sunday Digital CreAItives!

I hope you're all having a great weekend so far!

Today, we will cover some simple yet effective hacks that can significantly improve your LinkedIn content and engagement.

Many people overlook these tactics, but they can be very helpful for creating engaging posts.

Let's dive into my top five “hacks” that I use for my posts.

1. Write strong hooks

2. Use low readability

3. Add postscripts (PS)

4. Leave comments

1. Writing Strong Hooks

I don’t want to beat a dead horse here…

But this is the most important part of any post on any platform.

You must have a strong hook for all your posts.

And interestingly enough, most people write their hooks the wrong way.

Let me explain.

Most people typically like to write their posts from beginning to end which makes sense.

But did you know you should write your hook last?

Here’s why:

→ you’ll write a more accurate hook

→ you won't force yourself in one direction

→ it’s easier to edit your hook than the whole post

Now I have to admit, sometimes I have a hook that pops into my head that I just think is so good that I will then actually write a post around that hook.

But 95% of the time I’ll write my post first.

2. Easy Readability

This is a big one that people often get wrong.

Did you know the average English reading level is 7th or 8th grade (which is around 12 to 14 years old).

I see so many posts with big fancy words and there’s nothing wrong with that.

Just know there are a lot of people who likely be skipping your content.

🔥 HOT TAKE: people who copy + paste AI-generated content are typically the worst offenders (sorry, not sorry - I use AI so I can say this 😜).

But don’t worry I have a free tool for you to use to help you fix this and write for the average person.

This app is called Hemmingway.

You can just copy + paste your content into it and it will give you a grade and feedback.

Here’s a preview of my LinkedIn post yesterday in Hemmingway:

As you can see my post was written at a very readable level.

Ideally, you will not go above 4.

3. Using Postscripts (PS)

This is another very easy one that many people miss.

But adding a postscript or 'PS' to your posts is essential.

Your PS should drive engagement, either by asking a question or making a statement.

I do this in almost every single post and If I don't, it's usually because I've included it in the comments (more on this next).

And remember, if you add another postscript, it's PPS, not PSS!

PRO TIP: Most people use an emoji to grab attention.

4. Adding Comments

Comments are another opportunity to engage your audience.

By immediately commenting on your post after you post, it will 1) keep your comment at the top so it’s the first thing people see and 2) it helps boost your post.

For me personally, I like to keep it fun and add in Bonus information or a meme.

But you can do whatever works best for you - just make sure to do it!

Use the comments to prompt your audience to engage more.
